Driving down to Key West on a gorgeous winter afternoon and we couldn’t be farther from the cold and grey skies of our temporary northern home. We’ve been in Florida for a week now.  We started at my parent’s house on the west coast and then drove over to the east coast to visit JG’s family and our friends. From there the lure of KW was so strong we changed our flights around so we could make it down to Mile Marker 0.

This New Year’s trip has become something of a tradition for us. Sunset on Mallory Square accompanied by mojitos so good I refuse to drink them anywhere else. Hot, crispy conch fritters. Running around the island, past the tanned locals heading out on their fishing charters. Catching a movie at the Tropic theater.

I love everything KW epitomizes. Sun, sticky, sand-coated feet in flip flops, late night desserts that are “Better Than Sex” and drag queens who apply their make up with more skill than I could ever dream of.
